Much on?

Man, we are in the stage in life where there is a LOT going on! It seems like every week is jam packed between school, running three businesses, training, kids sports, coaching and trying to every-now-and-then have some sort of social existence! That’s not even adding in little trips away for gigs, bigger trips for kids activities, races or visiting family. Whilst I am extremely grateful for all these going on’s, it sure is nice to sit, read, have a cupper and catch ones breath every now and then!

We recently returned from another successful campaign in the Blue Mountains. My third one. This year was the inaugural 100mile race and man, it was a doozy! The race was savage, the weather dicey at times and the course tough! Just the way I like it. I went in with a time goal, based on previous races with similar demographics, but very quickly I changed that plan and went to enjoy the outing and move as quickly and efficiently as possible. After 28hr 55min I crossed the finish line and got the job done! My longest 100miler time wise by far! The night was rough and I got very sleepy but once the sun came up, for the final 4-5hrs I charged home. All in all, an excellent trip and MAN I freaking LOVE the Blue Mountains! So sick! I want to go back there (live there one day?!) so bad…maybe next year?!

In other BIG non-running related news we have sold our coffee shop in Bundaberg and it settles next week! We have had it on the market for over 18months and patiently waited for the right buyer. It has been a rollercoaster ride of potential buyers and them falling through, but the new owner is an excellent human and it couldn’t be going to someone better. He is only a young guy with passion for coffee and hard work. I have no doubt he will crush it and do an amazing job adding his own flare and energy into the shop. Thanks again Pete and best of luck to you. We will continue to work and own our shop in Bargara but it is a new era with The Journey brand in the rear view.

In the coming months I don’t really have any races but am back training stronger than ever. The gym and hybrid training has really been the variety and mix up I needed. Over the next couple of months the goal is to get to round 100miles a week of running and four hard gym sessions a week! That will be epic if I can maintain that! Tim and I plan on doing our loop at Pine Creek in September (if you want to join let me know) and some other fun adventures to come later in the year. So, plenty on.

There’s an old adage that if you want something done, ask the busiest person you know. Whilst I don’t actually like the ‘I’m so busy’ comment (were all busy in our own way), it is generally how I like to live my life. Plenty going on with plenty to look forward to. I love the routine of the day to day but the mini and not so mini adventures are always great to experience also. And there will be plenty of that in the rest of 2025.

I hope this finds you well and kicking your own goals! Just a little check in as I do want to get more regular with my writing again as I always love it when I do. Much love y’all. Consistency + Commitment.
